Maybe I’m slow with the issues, but I’ve never been a close follower of the whole national controversy deal.

Bush lied about weapons of mass destruction to invade Iraq. So?
Americans have been lied to to get into every war we’ve been in. It’s
only when the benefits aren’t immediately apparent that people bitch.
Vietnam went sour, so people complain. Hardly anybody knew about Korea,
so nobody cares. World War II defeated the Nazis! Nobody likes Nazis,
so we were justified in that. America was the saviour of Europe. Evil
would have taken over the world if we hadn’t stepped in. Oh no!

The truth is, many people didn’t want to get involved. Sure, people
might know this, but many people probably don’t know that the President
deliberately took actions that he knew would lead to war with Germany.
Thank goodness Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, or our direct involvement
in Europe would’ve come much later.

An American soldier dies every day in Iraq. So what? Isn’t that one of
the risks of their job? Didn’t they sign up knowing that they could
very well bite it on the job? Wars make people dead. The casualty rate
is damn low when you consider all of the other wars we’ve been in.

We’ve got a trillion dollar debt. Oh no! Who do we own this money to?
Ourselves. The government borrows from large companies to make their
current project work. They’ll get all of their tanks and bombs from
whatever company and have it put on their tab. It’s not like the money
is going to go to another country, or anything.

On that note, debt is good, provided everybody doesn’t decide they all
want to collect at once. How do you expect to buy that big house or
that fancy car? You’re going to have to go into debt. As long as you
can pay off your debt in a timely manner, there’s no problem. In fact,
if you’ve never owed anyone any money, people are going to be less
inclined to loan it to you. If they can see that you’ve got a good
history of borrowing money and paying it back, then they’ll trust you
to do the same with them.

The economy is worse than it’s ever been! Well, to boost the economy,
people have to start spending their money. More demand for goods
creates more jobs. More jobs means more people with money. More people
with money means more people to buy things. Get off of your ass and do
your civic duty; go out and buy a giant plasma TV!

Alrighty then, I’m done for now. I’d like your thoughts.

  1. its just a bit difficult to spend money when you just got laid off like thousands of people and are effing broke. thats the problem, and its like a vicious circle. Also, we have aided many countries and have given to them financially, and so we are also in debt because of that. but in general, i agree with your concept.
